Remove Duplicate Level 2 Stock Types
Overview
You may wish to delete unused stock types, either created in error or surplus to requirement.
Usage
In order to delete a Stock Level 2 in Khaos Control Cloud when there aren't any other Stock Levels or Stock Items assigned to it you can follow the below steps;
- Go to System Setup > System Data > Stock Level 2.
- Once on this screen you can go into Edit mode.
- Green select the Stock Level 2 that you wish to Delete.
- Select Delete.
- Click Save screen.
However, a factor that may stop you from deleting a Stock Level 2 could be that it is assigned to a Stock item or other Stock Levels.
If this is the case then an error message such as the one below will appear:
If you get the above message then in order to delete the Level 2 Stock Type you need to find any level 3 and 4 Stock Types linked to the level 2, make sure they are linked to stock items and then delete them. This will then allow you to delete the Level 2 Stock Type. An example of how to do this is below:
In this scenario we will use two example stock items to aid the understanding of the process. A trombone and a harp, with the following stock levels:
Stock Level 1: Music
Stock Level 2: Instrument
Stock Level 3:
Stock Level 4: Trombone/Harp
Step 1: Go to System Setup > System Data > Stock Level 2 and add a number to all the variants of the level 2 stock types, for example:
Instrument 1
Instrument 2
Step 2: Go to the Stock Item screen and filter by the level 2 stock codes to see which stock is being used with this category, for example:
Filter by Instrument 1 and see if any stock assigned to the category
Filter by Instrument 2 and see if any stock assigned to the category
Step 3: Decide which Level 2 stock type you are going to use as your master and then which you want to delete. We recommend renaming them to the examples below:
Instrument 1 - to be deleted
Instrument 2 - to be the Master
Step 4: Go to System Setup > System Data > Stock Level 4
Change all the stock type level 4's that are paired up with the Level 2s that you want to delete and switch them to the master stock level 2, for example:
Trombone > Instrument 2 - The Master
Harp > Instrument 2 - The Master
Step 5: You can then go to the stock items that are allocated to the 'To be deleted' level and manually change them to the master stock level 2 - Instrument 2
Step 6: Go to System Setup > System Data > Stock Level 2
Because you have now unassigned the stock items and stock level 4 that was looking at stock level 2, it will allow you to delete it.
You can now go ahead and delete the level 2 stock types that are no longer needed, leaving you with the master only.
