Importing Stock Item Relationships

Before You Begin

This guide should be used in conjunction with the Relationship Mapping document here, Khaos Control Cloud Data Import Mapping - Relationships.
Please Note: Stock items that have relationships imported incorrectly can not easily be corrected. It is your responsibility to ensure data is correct prior to import.

Prepare Your Data

As always, the quality of the data used for imports is of paramount importance. You should not run any import without ensuring a good quality of data.

Importing stock item relationships is the same process as a standard stock import however the import file contains only 4 columns:
  1. PARENT_CODE - This is the 'Pack' or 'Build' item stock code.
  2. CHILD_CODE - This is a component of the parent.
  3. QTY - How many of this child the relationship contains.
  4. REL_TYPE
    1. PACK - This will create 'Move With' (bundle) relationship. Move With relationships allow all of the child items to be sold independently of the pack at any time.
    2. BUILD - This will create a 'Build' relationship. Builds are used predominatly if you pre-assemble something and need to keep track of the finished product. Stock levels for child items will be reduced as builds are assembled.
It is essential when performing a relationship import that you do not have any item in the child column that is also present in the parent column as this will likely create a 'nested' relationship  which isn't supported.

If you wish us to have a quick once over your file pre import please send it over to training@khaoscloud.com and we will have a look.
