How does the system calculate the buy price for a move with or pack stock item?
Solution
A Move With parent item is not stock controlled as it is a virtual item. It is not possible to purchase the parent item and therefore doesn't have a buy price.
As the child items are the ones that are actually purchased, these have a buy price and also a stock value. When a pack is sold, the system will generate an accurate Cost of Sales based on the individual stock values of the child items. The system does this using the Value Proportion option.
If you don't define a Value Proportion, the system will calculate this for you when the pack is sold based on the values of the individual child items. If you wish to define the Value Proportion, this must add up to 100. The AutoSet Value Proportions button will do the maths for you, see How To Auto Set Value Proportions in Packs and Builds.
