Creating SCS Items

Overview

The following video explains the process for creating SCS (Size, Colour, Style) stock items.  The process involves creating a parent stock items and then creating variations based on the parent stock item. There are step by step instructions below the video.

Usage

To create the parent (template) stock item:

  1. Create a new parent Stock item.
  2. Add the stock code , description and level 2 stock type .
  3. You can add a supplier , buy and sell price , as these will be inherited by the child items that are created.
  4. Open the Options screen.
  5. Toggle Controlled to off . All SCS parent items must be non-stock controlled.
  6. Click Yes  in the popup and then Continue .
  7. Save the stock item.

To create the child items based on the parent stock item:

  1. Click on Stock Tools .
  2. Open the Size, Colour, Style (SCS) screen.
  3. Click on the + button to the right of Stock SCS List in the top left of the screen.
  4. Locate the parent item and select it.
  5. Go into Edit mode
  6. Add captions for the items, these are the types of variants for example, size, colour, shape, style, finish, composition etc. You can have up to four different captions. You only need to add captions for the elements that you are going to use.
  7. Click on the  +  button above the Level 1 grid in the bottom left.
  8. Add a Value , this will be part of the stock description of the child item.
  9. Add a SK , this will be part of the stock code of the child item so needs to be short but easily identifiable.
  10. Repeat for the number of variants for caption 1.
  11.   Repeat for the Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 grids if using them.
  12. Save the screen.
  13. You will notice if you click on the different lines in the Level 1 grid that the entries in the Level 2 grid might disappear. This is because they are only linked to the line you were focused on in the previous grid. To make sure all entries are linked to each other:
    1. Green select all the entries in the Level 2 grid.
    2. Double click on the green selected lines to add them into the buffer grid above.
    3. Click on the Apply Buffer Values button.
    4. Repeat for the other levels as required.
  14. To generate the stock items, click on the Actions button and select Generate stock items.
  15. A preview of the items can be seen on the right.

Notes/Caveats

  1. During the setup you can delete any option that is not required, for example certain colours are not sold in some sizes. To do this select the option in the grid you wish to delete and click on the delete button above the grid.
  2. If you make changes to the templates, or the SCS child items you will need to update the stock items. To do this save the screen, click on the Actions button and select Update stock items.
  3. You can copy the profile from one parent stock item to another using the Copy Profile option in the Actions button.

Configuration

Configuring the Templates

You can change the templates for how the system will order the values and stock code information from the Level 1 to 4 grids, for example:

$DESC$ $E1$ / $E2$ / $E3$
You could change to be:
$E1$ $DESC$ colour $E2$ size $E3$ years
Where:
$E1$ = fabric = Unicorn
$DESC$ = summer dress
$E2$ = colour = sky blue
$E3$ = size = 4 to 6

To the customer this would appear as:
Unicorn summer dress colour sky blue size 4 to 6 years

The same can be done to the stock code and long description templates, for example for the long description:
Template
100% cotton $E1$ $DESC$ colour $E2$ with pink, yellow and orange unicorns to fit $E3$ years. Machine washable.
Long description
100% cotton Unicorn summer dress colour sky blue with pink, yellow and orange unicorns to fit 4 to 6 years. Machine washable.
